Travel information

For general tourist information we recommend you to visit the very friendly Barcelona city official website.

For moving around by public transportation you can visit the TMB (Barcelona City Transport) website.

Below, some clues that we consider of interest if this is your first visit to Barcelona.

Arriving by plane

The Barcelona airport is situated 12 Km from the city. Please note that the Barcelona Airport has two Terminals: the new Terminal 1 (T1) and the Terminal 2 (T2 A-B-C). For full information we suggest you to visit the Airport website. There are several ways to get from the airport to the centre of Barcelona.

METRO: Very recently (February 2016) line L9 had been opened, which connects both airport terminals with UPC campus. This an optimal way to go directly from the workshop place to the airport, and vice versa.

TRAIN: Trains leave from T2 approximately every half an hour (at minutes ’08 and ’38) and go to Sants Train Station. There you can take the L3 (green) metro line direction to Zona Universitaria (Palau Reial stop is the closest to the workshop). The trip from the airport to Sants train station takes 20 minutes. A single ticket costs 3€, however, you can also use a T-10 bonus (which costs 9.95€) and allows you to travel 10 times with any public transport in the city (metro, train, tram or bus).

T1-T2 Renfe suburban train station shuttle.. Every 6 or 7 minutes a bus connects T2 (with a stop in the intermodal building) with the arrivals (P0) and the departures (P3) roadways and the arrivals roadway (P0) of T1. The journey lasts approximately 10 minutes. This service is for free.

BUS: The Aerobús leaves from the airport quite frequently from both T1 and T2. You can find the timetables for the bus to T1 here and for the bus to T2 here. A ticket costs 5.90€ (one way) or 10.20€ (round trip). The last stop is in the centre of the city, Plza. Catalunya.

TAXI: The black and yellow Barcelona taxis can also be found at the airport. You will find a taxi rank outside any of the main terminal exits T1 or T2. The journey to the city centre will take you between 20 to 30 mins and you should expect to pay around 25€ from T2 and 30€ from T1.

Arriving by train

The main train station is called ‘Barcelona Sants’. Its location is centric and is well connected by subway (Sants Estació on lines 3 and 5) to any other point of the city. For more information on trains you can contact RENFE, the Spanish railroad company.
